Parents' Association Meetings
The PA's General Meetings are designed with your needs in mind. Attendance will enrich your understanding of issues that directly affect your child. Our programs regularly present key members of the Stuyvesant community and well-informed guest speakers who make presentations on topics such as college admissions and financial aid.
Meetings are held monthly from September through June, with the exception of December and February, in the Murray Kahn Theatre. Simultaneous interpretation in Korean and Mandarin is available. Meetings generally start at 7:00 PM. A "Meet and Greet" with refreshments is usually held before each meeting in the lobby in front of the auditorium. For details about the programs of upcoming meetings, please check the PA's weekly email announcements as well as the PA Bulletin.

New Format for Stuy PA Bulletin (Newsletter)

NYS Senator Adriano Espaillat introduced Bill S-1787 to Authorize[s] the board of education of the city school district of the City of New York to establish standards for admission to special high schools (http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S1787-2015)
(The special high schools include: Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, Staten Island Tech, Queens HS for the Sciences at York College, HS for Math, Science and Engineering at City College, HS for American Studies at Lehman college, Brooklyn Latin, Laguardia HS and all additional schools that the board of education of the city school district of the City of New York designates as special high schools)
Many Stuy parents attended the December 11 rally at City Hall to oppose the City Council Resolution to support the NYS bills to change the Specialized High Schools admissions policy from the current single, objective test admissions criterion to multiple, including subjective and non-academic, criteria. Many Stuy parents also testified at City Hall, signed petitions, and sent emails to legislators. Our voices make a difference! The resolution in the NYC Council may or may not come up for a vote. There will be more actions we can take as developments occur.
Resources for Students
The Writing Center
The Writing Center is located in the library and is open every day periods 4 through 8, on a drop in, first-come basis. Editors are available to work with students on any writing assignment and at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to final edits.
The library is available for students to visit during free periods or lunch periods each school day unless otherwise announced. All students must scan in with their student IDs prior to entering the library. Many times of the day, the library becomes full within the first 10-15 minutes of each period. When it is too full, students must wait to be let in by a librarian as space becomes available. Additionally, the library has extended hours until 5pm Monday through Thursday, which is a good opportunity for students to finish up schoolwork or print assignments before they head home.
Click here for the library calendar with important announcements.
AIS tutoring (Academic Intervention Services) is available after school from 3:40- 4:40pm. These are valuable sessions where students can meet with teachers for extra help or make up lab work. There is tutoring available in Math, Physics, Social Studies, Chemistry, Technology, and World Languages as well as Biology.
ARISTA, Stuyvesant’s branch of the National Honor Society, provides free one-on-one tutoring to any student who requests this service. Students requesting tutoring will be matched with an ARISTA member who has scored above a 90 in that subject area. All interested students should go to the ARISTA website to create an account at stuyarista.org.

How You Can Support Stuy and Our Students
ALL gifts to the PA are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law!
Your support makes these vital “extras” possible. Donate online by clicking the link below. Your child will ultimately be the beneficiary of whatever you can give. The suggested contribution is $500 per student, but donations of every amount are needed and appreciated—no amount is too small to make a difference.
To those who have already given, THANK YOU!
Donate Used Test Prep Books to the Student Union or ARISTA
If you no longer need your Test Prep Books from previous years, consider donating them to either the Stuyvesant Student Union or ARISTA, Stuyvesant's chapter of the National Honor Society. The Stuyvesant Student Union and ARISTA will resell your donated books at deeply discounted rates to raise additional needed funds.
