The Asian Pacific Fund announces the availability of up to two $1,000 scholarships for restaurant workers and children of restaurant workers. The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) sponsors numerous scholarships to support women pursuing ABET-accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs in preparation forfor careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science in the U.S. and Mexico. In 2014, SWE disbursed over 230 new and renewed scholarships valued at more than $700,000. Applicants complete one application and are considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

This year, 10 scholars in the top 10% of their graduating classes will receive four-year scholarships, mentoring, and a summer internship at the New York Times. COLUMBIA YOUNG AUTHORS 2015 COMPETITION new item

The Columbia College Chicago Fiction Writing Department announces the YOUNG AUTHORS 2015 writing competition. The national competition, which began in 1995, has received thousands of submissions from high school students in faction and creative nonfiction writing. All 9th to 12th grade students interested in writing are invited to submit up to two manuscripts in each category: fiction, creative nonfiction, and/or short plays. First-, second-, and third-place winners in each category will receive a cash prize of $300, $100, or $50, respectively. Winning submissions will be published in Columbia's High School Institute anthology. Undergraduates may use the scholarship for education-related expenses such as tuition, fees, books, supplies, room and board.  ASIAN & PACIFIC ISLANDER SCHOLARSHIP FUND 2015

The APISF General Scholarship is open to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) high school and college students who wil be enrolling in or are currently enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university as a degree-seeking undergraduate student in the coming year. There are multiple scholarship opportunities that vary n award amounts, number of years, field of study, location, and more. Awards range from $2,500 to $15,000. Click

GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS PROGRAM/APIA 2015

The Gates Millennium Scholars Program (GMS) is funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It was established in 1999 to provide outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic Amerian students with significant financial need an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of interest. The goal of GMS is to promote academic excellence by providing thousands of outstanding students the opportunity to reach their full potential. Three forms must be submitted individually by the deadline to be considered (Nominee Personal Information Form, Nominator Form, Recommender Form). New York Cares is happy to invite you to participate in our FAFSA Completion Event to help students apply for financial aid for college. A
 team of trained volunteers will provide free assistance to students and their families as they complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This program ran in 40 schools last January and February, and as a result, hundreds of families learned about their financial aid packages in time to make informed decisions about college acceptances.
In order to participate please do the following:
1) RSVP by Friday, January 23 to Ms. Casey J. Pedrick at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.Please indicate your preferred start time: 6:00pm,7:00pm, or 8:00pm (your session will be under 1 hour long), as well as your name and the name of your child.
2) Obtain a FAFSA PIN number prior to arriving (for instructions on how to obtain a PIN, please visit this website: https://pin.ed.gov).
3) Bring the appropriate financial documents (tax forms) and social security numbers listed on the attached sheet (if you do not have a social security number you may still be eligible to apply for financial aid).
4) Arrive at Stuyvesant's first floor promptly at the start time you selected: 6:00pm7:00pm, or 8:00pm. From the first floor, you will be escorted to Room 411.

*Please note: A parent or guardian must attend with the student in order to complete the FAFSA.

The Asian Pacific Fund announces the availability of up to two $1,000 scholarships for restaurant workers and children of restaurant workers. Founded in 2005, the scholarship honors the values of Detroit restaurant owners Shui Kuen and Allen Chin by supporting the educational aspirations of children of workers in the Asian/Pacific Islander food service industry in the U.S. To apply, click here for the application and instructions.

* Must work in or have parents who work in Asian-owned or Asian cuisine restaurants

The scholarship fund strives to enhance, develop and promote the professional lives and careers of dedicated Asian Americans in public finance as well as those interested in pursuing a career in public finance or the public sector.
