Alice de Rivera brought a law suit against the NYC Board of Education charging discrimination on the basis of gender. Alice won and the first class of 11 female students was admitted in 1969.

Class of 1972 alumni Eve Berman, Evelyn Horn, Laren Herman Lynn, Abigail Scheck, and Suzanne Rose Shapiro attended the celebration. Alice Haines, MD (nee de Rivera) also attended.
